About Rachel
Hello! My name is Rachel Roth, and I graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a B.A. in Geography and a minor in Multimedia Communication in 2018. I enjoy analyzing the human-environment and have always had a knack for graphic design. Therefore, I love maps.

Through the combination of my education and professional work experience, I have built a portfolio of my projects, as well as gained useful hard and soft skills. Feel free to take a look through my portfolio, visit my LinkedIn page, or contact me below. I'd love to hear from you!
Work Experience
GIS Planning Assistant
09.2020 - Present
I currently am a GIS Planning Assistant at East Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission. Through this role, I provide technical support to planning staff, which includes updating GIS datasets and creating maps and graphics. I regularly utilize programs such as ArcGIS Pro, ArcMap, ArcGIS Online, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Illustrator.
Project Technician &
Real Property Listing Technician
02.2019 - 09.2020
For a year and a half, I worked at Associated Appraisal, the largest mass property assessment company in Wisconsin. As a Project Technician, I processed property sales and building permit records, sketched floor plans using CAD drawing software, and coordinated assessment data with municipal, county, and state governmental agencies. Notably, I led efforts in connecting assessment data to GIS software like ArcMap and Google Earth. I also independently managed all Real Property Listing duties for three Milwaukee County municipalities.
Graphic Designer
03.2017 - 12.2018
While I was a Graphic Designer for the UW-Eau Claire Geography and Anthropology Department, I designed posters, flyers, and other visuals, combining my interests of art and geography. I also assisted with marketing outreach, my main goal being to attract new geography majors. Notably, I created top-selling postcards and greeting cards for The Local Store in Eau Claire, proceeds from sales going to the UW-Eau Claire Geography and Anthropology Department. To create all materials, I utilized Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign.
Cartographer
01.2018 - 05.2018
During my Applied Cartography student-faculty directed study at UW-Eau Claire, I created a promotional map infographic for the U.S. National Kubb Championship and designed the reference map for the 2018 Eaux Claires music festival, which draws in a crowd of over 20,000 people per day. I organized raw data using Microsoft Excel, conducted spatial analyses using ArcGIS, and stylized graphics using Adobe Illustrator.
